How to Listen to Audible on PC
1. Listen online
Audible has a cloud Player which lets you stream your titles online. It does work, but the features are not the same as the app. I’ve experienced so many errors during the playbacks. Sometimes the player won’t load, or it would start from the beginning. This should be an option only when you have no other choices.
To get started, log in with your Amazon Account on your PC, and select a title from the Library. The player would load up in a new pop-up tab, ensuring it isn’t blocked.
Pros
- You can stream, download, add bookmarks
- Change the playback speed.
Cons
- The cloud player crashes sometimes
- Doesn’t sync the position and bookmarks.
2. Use the Windows 10 App
Now, If you have Windows 10, Audible App For PC is available on the Microsoft Store (sorry, Mac users), and you can use that instead to listen to audiobooks.
Downloading Audible for Windows 10 is easy. Press Start and go to Microsoft Store. Search ‘Audible‘ and press Get.
Launch Audible, and you’ll see the login page. Enter your Amazon or Audible login credentials, and you are in.
Now you can search for your titles in the Library or download new ones.
Pros
- Easy-to-use UI
- Change Playback speed, sleep timer, bookmarks, etc
- Buy audiobooks from the app
- An additional tool called “Send a Book.”
Cons
- Available only for Windows 10 and Windows 8
- Buggy Search feature

3. Using Android Emulator
Audible App For PC: If you don’t have Windows 10/8 on your PC, there are still better workarounds. For Example, we can emulate the Android App with an emulator. There are so many free emulators available for your PC which you can use for running Audible. I will use the Nox emulator; it’s free and does the job.
Go to Nox’s official website and click on the download button. The file is 384 MB, so downloading shouldn’t take much time. Once finished, install the setup.
You can either install apps from Google Play Store like you do on your Android smartphone or download the apk file from the web browser inside Nox and then install it. I prefer the second way, as it’s more convenient.
On the home screen of Nox Player, you should see a Browser; click on it and go to Google and search for Audible android apk. In the search results, you should see a link from the Apk mirror; click on that. Alternatively,
You have successfully installed the Audible smartphone app on your Mac. Since it’s optimized for a phone screen, it will switch to a vertical view. Log in to your Amazon account, and you should find all your purchased audiobooks under the library section because the UI is intuitive. You get all the options like playback speed control, sleep timer, and switch to chapters easily.
Log in with your Amazon account, and you’re done. You can also listen to Audible channels.
Pros
- Works with any windows version
- Audible Channels
Cons
- Performance is a little slow
There is another workaround if you wish to listen to audiobooks on your MP3 player or old iPod. You must extract the files by pasting the following command in the Run Dialog Box.
C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Packages\AudibleInc.AudibleforWindowsPhone_xns73kv1ymhp2\LocalState\Content
The only problem is you would have to find a way to convert the tax files to mp3 first. OpenAudible is open-source software that does just that. This is usually helpful when you have an older iPad with no Audible App For PC. The setup is easy; once installed, import the tax file, and the conversion process starts when you click on the Audiobook.
Conclusion
We showed you a few alternate ways to listen to audible on a PC; you can use the cloud player in the web browser. The official Windows 10 app works great, but you don’t have to get Windows 10 to do that, and you can always use an emulator. Please tell us what you think in the comments.
